I did not see this posted yet, sorry if it has been & I just missed it ... in any event, a short time ago I fired off one of my daily "save VMK" emails to all of the folks at Disney on the contact list posted by Fish & Fairie ... a moment ago, I checked my email again, and had two copies of this same reply in my inbox. It looks like Disney has sorted out how to filter all of the "VMK" & "Virtual Magic Kingdom" emails they are getting, and re-direct them to one place in their email system, so that these auto-relies can be generated to the senders, in this case, me.

A response to our VMK guests

Hey VMKers, Thank you for contacting The Walt Disney Company and VMK. We have received an outpouring of feedback regarding our decision to close VMK. We are overwhelmed by the responses and enthusiasm of our guests, but unfortunately our decision to eventually close VMK is set. We have explored many different options, including a pay to play model but have decided to focus more of our time on our new virtual worlds coming soon, which we are sure that you will love as much as VMK. Deciding to close VMK was a very difficult decision for us because we loved creating VMK just as much as you loved playing it. But in a company that encourages innovation and creativity we have decided to “keep moving forward” and exploring where the future takes as, because in the words of Walt Disney, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” Thank you for being part of this journey with us, and we hope we continue to see you at Disney.com enjoying what we imagine next!
Sincerely, Your friends at VMK

EDIT TO ADD: As a test, I just removed any reference to "VMK" or "Virtual Magic Kingdom" from the subject line of my email & sent it off again to the same distribution list at Disney ... I'll let you know if I get another auto-reply to this latest email, if not, it might mean that they are only filtering out messages that have the key words in the subject line rather than in the email message body.
EDIT AS OF 4/12: I have not rec'd any auto-replies to the email I submitted with no reference to VMK or Virtual Magic Kingdom in the subject line, so am guessing that they are not filtering inbound email on the message body content.

Funny how they said as instead of us. Typo

It's so silly, what was wrong with pay to play, anyway?

Me!
It stinks that you get the auto response. This is highly doubtful, but do you guys think that Disney is creating a new (and secret) version of VMK but more 3-D-like (like POTCO or Toontown). They weren't really specific about their new online "worlds" in the auto-response

The word "VMKers" makes me laugh. Nothing can ever compare to VMK. I thought VMK was never ever going to close. I hope something or someone will just pop up and save VMK!! That's all I have to say right now!

I think the most upsetting part is that they didn't tell us for soo long. If it was meant to be a promotion or even just a temporary thing they should have told us!!!! No way we would have all waisted our time and effort doing all that we did if it was just going to end! I'm so mad at Disney for ending it like this, I don't want anything to do with another Disney site again! If they do this to us all now, what's to stop them from doing it again?

how can they be so certain we'll like the other games just as much?
I for one, am most interested in VMK. In VMK, there was no point, it was all about fun. In pirates online, you had something you always needed to do. very stressful

I Have To Agree With You Eyes.
How Do They Know We Would Just Suddenly Take Interest In Other Games?
There Is No Way They Would Know If We Would Like The Other Sites Better Than Vmk.
Yet They Should Take A Hint By The Petitions, And All The Save Vmk Sites.
