I'm a little tired of everybody on VMK being all made at Yavn for closing, just because he was the maker of it. Just like none of us want VMK to close, nor does Yavn. He loves VMK just as much as we do. Its the OTHER disney representitives who CHOSE to close VMK down. So it's not Yavn's fault.

Yavn was NOT the maker of VMK. He is/was the executive producer, which means he runs the game and updates it, he did not create it.
He had no desicion in it's closing, so I agree, it's not yavn's fault.

Like I said, people at WDIG. He does not have an account (that is known) on VMK.

oh ok
wait another question, why wouldnt he have an account? if he loves it like we do, wouldn't he want an account then he could have the joy of playing it?

Thats what I meant, Jennings. The creator technically would be the person who updates and runs it in my book

Yavn was actually seen in game the other day in Phinny's room.

Apr 27 2008, 07:05 PM
Ok let me make this more understandable
Someone founded VMK and made concept art for it and then put it into a computer and digitally began creating it. That is the creator. Then a team of staff helped designed it. And when VMK was ready to run the person who had created it needed to move onto a new project (something like DXD or POTCO) So, they gave an executive producer (yavn) the job to keep the game moving forward.

I think the problem is that people are bluring the line between virtual and real. Think of Yavn as more of a symbolic figure. The character Yavn is somewhat the personification of VMK. For all we know, there could have been several different Yavn's since VMK started. Just becase the name on VMK stays the same doesn't mean that the real person behind it did. Therefore, I view Yavn and VMK as almost one.

I agree that people shouldn't be blaming Yavn. I've never blamed Yavn for VMK's closing, either. However, I'm sure Yavn is thick-skinned enough to take all the complaints from the people who don't understand that it wasn't his decision. He had to know that there would be a "shoot the messenger" mentality from the players, since it was him who was forced to make the announcement. I'm sure he's handling it well.

I feel uber bad for

because he's losing his job and all of the other staff are, too.
I really hope they have a job to fall back on.

I am positive the Disney Company will give the Vmk staff new staffing positions. If I remember correctly I think Yavn said something about them being needed to help with the other and new virtual gaming worlds.

All the staff of vmk will go to other online disney games ( club penguin, pirates, toon town, new faries game, cars game)
And they will be completly behind the scenes.

Did the hosts or staff confirm that? Because I remember Lily saying no one told her where she was going after closing. Then again, that was in the early stage, so at that point, they might not have notified her of a job oppurtunity yet.

(wow... a confusing thread)

Anyways, I'm sure the staff are working on something new and up coming in the disney hub. There's SOO MUCH that hasn't been mentioned publicly that i'm sure they're working on the next best thing.
As for phinny and sunny and all them, i'm sure they can't tell alot of info to the players of vmk. I think that would be too much information. They can only disclose so much. I'm sure they'll have something else in the company they can fall back on.
All in all, I just want to see what happens come the 21st. Disney hasn't said alot about what the real deal is and I would like to know... like how everyone likes to know. They're keeping quiet.
And yes, don't blame Yavn. He's the spokesperson for VMK and yea, he'd be the first target to blame but don't. The staff did an awesome job with the game. I just want to see what the final word would be in the end.

Like Rudolph said earlier, for all we know, there have been several real people behind the image of Yavn over the past few years that VMK has been open ... so while "Yavn" may serve as the face of VMK, blaming him for the site's demise is sort of like blaming the picture of the kid on the Cracker Jack box for the prizes getting smaller over the years.
