Ahhh! I only use VMKpal for the pictures , if i take them by using the prntscreen button the picture turns out waay to small when I upload it. It's way easier for me too crop pictures too , and that huge white space paint gives you doesn't happen. I didn't know you could BANNED from using it! I am not very computer smart so I wouldn't know how to use a scripiting tool . Guess I'll be staying away from VMK pal from now on.

What do you mean, VMKPal is against values? That's all I can use to get on VMK, my browsers don't work right, they suck with VMK....

Hmmm... My problem is the fact that Firefox has been abnormally messed up recently, parental controls on MSN block VMK, and IE is totally messed up....

I told my kids to stay off VMKpal.... I got the old evil eye look from them....

I can take screen shots on my computer, beacuse of the software i have, but I can't play the games on this computer, because it freezes it up...

Why is it so hard just to play a game?

I did send a message to VMK staff asking them if they could have Yavn clarify if VMKpal is against the values in the newsletter. I know that he posted that it is against the values on a fansite, but I think that it needs to be stated in the newsletter.

I agree, it would be awful if we would lose people because of VMKpal.

You know what i noticed (through vmkpal) is that there would be some loading problems with the game. since they upgraded it a few weeks ago, there's some lagg error in there. I guess we're better off with IE.

I use VMKPal, i just dont use the auto-type. I think its the auto-type scripting that they pick up on. I've been using VMKPal since i started and nothing's happened.

I hope on Monday we see something in the newsletter, just from this board, we caought alot of people who use it, maybe VMK can create a way to use screen shots and remember your charecters. I just hate people getting banned when they dint even know what they did!

I think the best solution would be for VMK to take over VMKpal and remove the things they do not like then make it available for players to use.

Interesting. My taking picture days might be over then. The computer I take pictures on will only take them on VMKpal. The computer I have that has adobe on it (my best place to save pictures) will not let me play on VMK. So I can't win!

Well, I use the internet explorer and vmkpal. explorer works fine. what i did notice, for the past two days, VMKPal hasn't been working. and when i'd log onto the login page on explorer, it would give me an error message saying "this website does not have a valid certificate!"

There's something missing in that reply letter. There's no concrete yes or no answer. I strongly believe it's because they know fully well they can't control or even know whether or not one uses VMK Pal. Simply put, it's don't ask, don't tell; is that how that phrase goes? Players just have to be smart about their VMKPal use. VMK Pal neither hacks or modifies VMK. It simply adds functionalilty to the browser through which you play VMK. As the VMKPal creator mentions over and over, it's a wrapper application around Internet Explorer. Whenever you run VMKPal, to the VMK servers, it still thinks you're on IE. Which is why I believe VMK has no legal right to send a cease and desist to the VMKPal creator because 1. he's not making money off of it and 2. it does not interfere with the actual VMK game or vmk systems on their end.

The only questionable VMKPal feature I can understand (but not necessarily agree with) VMK's concern, are the quick-text hot keys. It is technically a keyboard macro, but honestly, what can you really do with that that would give you any advantage to anything? You know if they they want to talk about unfair advantages, then they might as well go after those who go out and buy a faster computer, faster internet connection, and higher end video cards, because if anything, these 3 factors make the greatest difference in one's VMK user experience. I have no issues with people having better systems and a better VMK experience. My beef is with how VMK goes by this notion that somehow keyboard macros on VMKpal can give players advantages, yet the greatest advantage one can have on VMK is the least possible amount of lag during the mini-games.

Okay this is starting to turn into a rant so I'll end it here and possibly go rant off in the rant thread.

With the quick-text hot keys, it gives players an advantage when putting in codes from off-site games like POTC Dead Man's Chest. It probably makes it much easier and quicker for players to get that Jack Sparrow costume (or at least increases their chances of getting it) when all they have to do is copy and paste a bunch of codes in, while other players that are not allowed to or can't download VMKPal have to manually type in each code, which to be honest, is a pain in the patoot. I agree with what Fish was saying in an earlier post, VMK should buy VMKPal or make a program that is similar to it, that way everyone can enjoy all the benefits VMKPal has to offer without possibly getting in trouble for using it.



I think an easy way for VMK to detect whether someone is using VMKPal is when codes are being put in at a super-fast rate. I have heard of several players getting a warning for that. Other than that, I don't think there's a way for VMK to be able to tell if you're using it either. And even then, I doubt they know you're using VMKPal specifically, I think they just have a program that automatically detects how fast codes are being put in.

I am inclined to agree with you Splunge. I do not believe that VMK has any way of knowing if you are using Pal or not, short of hacking into your computer. And that, I believe, would be firmly against VMK values.

I plan to continue to use VMKPal. It is very helpful when you have a family to do quests for (trying to remember all those log ins can get difficult), and for screen shots. The other features on Pal are really not necessary, so I don't use them.

Which is all to say, I have absolutely no intention of logging in to VMK and announcing it! That would be foolish, but to quietly run a simple bit of software that makes my life a wee bit simpler...I'm all for it.

also, the Quick Text tool would be Much more difficult to try and put in codes with, to do that. you would have to open up the quick screen, paste in your code, close out that screen, then try and press alt and a number u put it in to put in your code. i don't even think that works .... anyways. Carioca uses a program that he bought and explains clearly that it's not against VMK Values.

I take it QA_Flynn was telling me that it is against VMK values, but I do not think they have any way of telling if you are using it. I still think VMK should just hurry up and create a VMKpal type program. I think it would make it easier for staff and players.

When did you send them message , Fish? How long did it take them to reply. Anyways , I agree VMK should make something that goes with VMK. Or they should team up with the creator of VMKpal and put more sutible options.

I think I sent it around the same time this thread was started. To be honest I had forgotten I even sent it.

I think VMK is slowly blocking VMK Pal.

i always get this Access Violation when i try and use it every so often, Carioca says it's VMk itself, but VMK Pal is the only program that i've had that problem on

I see VMK Pal as a souped-up, VMK-style Internet Explorer. (For after all, that is pretty much what it is, Internet Explorer that's been modified with some program or another.) I must go with the rest of you upon the fact that VMK should make its own VMK Pal, or work with Carioca instead of against him.

Vmkpal Is Usable Because Many People Use It.
You Could Take Screens With Vmk Pal.
Then You Save it To Your Computer, But You Still Need Someone To Get A Code For It.

Yes, you can use VMKPal. I'm not sure if VMK likes you using it though. I have heard from a host that they don't mind if you use it to take pictures.

VMKPal will take screen shots for you and hold them for you. But in order to use those pictures, you will still need to download them to a place like Photobucket.

(And to use VMKpal, you have to download it on to your computer.)

it is really fun to use! i just started it, i like the picture option

i advise using it because all you have to do is click and type your password, and whalah!
